Return of The Killers

Funny thing that just yesterday I was revisiting The Killers' debut album Hot Fuss, and today I see NME reporting that The Killers are apparently back from their 2009 hiatus (sans feathers, hopefully) and signed on to play Lollapalooza in Chile. Good thing, too, as I did not much dig Brandon Flowers's solo effort Flamingo. It had several good tracks– "Crossfire," "Was it Something I Said" and "Swallow It," but on the whole it was lackluster for me. Anywho, I'm hoping they'll be getting back to the studio to turn out some more post-ironic, sleazy, synth-drenched pop tunes. I refuse to admit the iTunes play count for "Spaceman."

Noah and the Whale to Release New Album

There's something about Noah and the Whale's sound that's wonderfully sentimental and wistful without being even remotely sappy. I meant to post the news a couple days ago that the British indie folk band has got a new album slated for March 15 called Last Night on Earth. Paste magazine is streaming their single "Wild Thing" (which has nothing to do with The Troggs) on their website via cool cassette tape-shaped media player. As usual, give the song a few seconds and then start asking yourself whether you've fallen in love. You probably have.

On a related note, above is the official music video for another song off the new album called "L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N." It's surprisingly upbeat compared to their usual fare. TMI is definitely looking forward to March.

"Fireflies" (The Week at Belmont Remix)

I never considered myself remotely musical or particularly funny, so the fact that I've had the chance to mess around with both of those things over the past year and half is nothing short of awesome, in my opinion. The most recent evidence? The Week at Belmont crew, with the help of friends, wrote, recorded and shot yet another parody video for the show. Last Spring we tackled "Tik Tok." This time around we turned our attention to "Fireflies" by Owl City. I'm proud of it, and definitely happy that I've got such great creative partners. They are badasses, the lot of them. Also, we're operating under the name Slander and Libel Records. Take a look!

This Week in Weird Videos

There seems to be a fair amount of illness going around Nashvegas this week. I spent most of the weekend sick in bed, watching TV. So, you can imagine when I saw a video with a redheaded girl twisting off her hand to pay an intergalactic toll road, I figured it might be the fever talking.

Check out this trip-y music video for "The Ghost Inside" by Broken Bells. Also, it will teach you a valuable lesson to never leave home without your Visa card, otherwise travel will cost you an arm and a leg, (ba dum chhh!) literally.

"Sounds Promising" Quote of the Day: Coldplay

Sometimes you just wonder what people are doing. Case in point: this Chris Martin quote from NME on the forthcoming Coldplay album.

"Coldplay's Chris Martin has revealed the band's new album will be about 'love, addiction [and] OCD.'"

We shall wait on baited breath.
